Organic food is produced by farmers who make use of the renewable resources and conservation of soil and water to preserve the environment for future generations. It is produced without using conventional pesticides and without feeding animals  growth
hormones or antibiotics. Any company who handles or processes
organic foods must be certified by a government
official…guaranteeing you assurance and quality!As a consumer, the USDA has recently put into effect some labeling rules that can help you determine if a product at the grocery store is Organic. Four categories of Organic labels have been approved based on the percentage of organic content. If your package says: 100% Organic: • All of the product’s content is certified organic (excluding water and salt). • The package may display USDA seal (optional) and the certifying agent’s name must appear on the packaging. Organic: • At least 95% of content by weight excluding water and salt is organic. • The package may display USDA seal (optional) and the certifying agent’s name must appear on the packaging. Made with Organic Ingredients: • At least 70% of content must be organic. • Main product label may display the phrase “Made with Organic” followed by up to three specific ingredients. • The package may NOT display the USDA seal and the certifying agent’s name must appear on the packaging. Products containing less than 70% Organic: • Content may identify organic content only on the product label’s ingredient list. • Packaging may NOT display USDA seal. |
